preserve our small town

We’re a hallmark town. Let’s keep it that way.
So many folks call us a “Hallmark Town.” Well, we are. We’re known for our small-town charm, historic architecture, and welcoming demeanor. We have to ensure we protect all that makes us, well, us. As a longtime member of the Bluegrass Trust for Historic Preservation and through my own passion for housing and history, I am committed to preserving our history, our historical buildings, and valuable farmland. Once we change the landscape, we can't undo it. If we decide to grow, we have to do it in a responsible, appropriate way that fits within the character of our town. We need to ensure we are proactive, not reactive.
We can keep our eyes on the future while protecting the past. There is going to come a time when we need to make hard decisions. We can grow, modernize, and bring ourselves into the 21st Century through strategic, well-planned decisions. We can start by redoing the City of Midway’s website to reflect who we really are. We can put policy in place to protect our historic buildings. We can work with the State to rethink the entrance to Midway from the interstate. This won’t happen overnight, but protecting what makes Midway so special will be at the heart of every decision.
